As a new mom, it is so overwhelming and hard to figure out this new life. Everything changes in an instant. You’re left to figure out this tiny, helpless human, and your new role as a mother all at once. You’re giving all you can to your baby, but one thing that is in extremely short supply is time for yourself. Getting more self-care as a new mom is so important, and while difficult, not impossible.

One of my favorite things to do to make self-care easier is to keep a stash of my favorite things. Whether that’s making up a bunch of sugar scrub, or that I grab some extra face masks when they’re on sale. Keeping my favorite things on hand make it so that I can just grab what I desire to use.

Using my block schedule keeps me on track and gives me the time I need to get my self-care in. I have used this schedule for such a long time now and as I evolve my schedule, I adjust my times to suit my day best.

Why Self-Care is essential

Self care is important, no matter how busy you are. Stop making yourself a motherhood martyr and start working on yourself. Self care is non-negotiable.

So many of us sacrifice our entire identity to be a mother when it is only hurting ourselves. As human beings, we need to focus on ourselves from time to time. Neglecting yourself only sets yourself up for running into the ground. You need to find the time to take care of your needs so that you can keep taking care of your family. Don’t set yourself up for failure by neglecting your needs.
