15 Me Time Ideas for the Holiday Season

Sharing is caring!

The holiday season is such a busy time, so it is more important than ever to get a little me time in. This time of year just pulls you in 50 directions, between the parties, shopping, wrapping, decorating, eating, and fun, you’re busy all the time.  With all that is happening it is more important than ever to get a little self care in, which is why these me time ideas will come in so handy.

So what can you do?

I will be including a list of my favorite things that we do when we get a little me time, but I have to start with this. You need to make your me time a priority. No excuses, no way around it, it needs to be a priority in your day.

Stop the excuses, they’re all BS anyway. If you make something a priority you make time for it.  Don’t let the availability of time be your only measuring stick for self-care.  If you need it and want it, make it a priority, zero excuses.

When you sit down and decide that taking me time is going to be a priority in your life, then you can move along to the next part. Sit down with some paper and write out all the little things you want to do. This list doesn’t have to be exhaustive, but really think about the things that connect with your soul. What fills you up?

For instance, just today, I stopped everything I was doing once my daughter went down for her nap and I put in headphones and had a dance party while putting on makeup.  It’s a Tuesday & I have literally no place to go, I won’t see anyone but my daughter and husband, but I needed it for me. I needed to let that care-free girl out and let her just be.

Did I have time to take an hour to put on makeup and dance around? No… I have pressing things that need to be done, beyond finishing this post even.  My house is plenty messy, and I need to move laundry around. The thing is, I needed something else. I needed to fill my bucket some and connect with who I am.

Now, I can sit here and finish what I need to do, and get things picked up. I’m energized and ready to tackle the rest of my list.

What do you want to do?

So, what is something you miss doing? Something that really connects you to who you are at your core? This is probably something you did often before kids. It’s something that you enjoyed and that you thought about often.

These are the things you should be doing.  These things are exactly what your bucket needs. For each of us, these things are different, but they work exactly the same. Don’t get caught up in lists of things to do that people make (even mine). Use them as a jumping off place, to find inspiration and remember what you enjoy doing.
