5 Affordable Holy Grail Beauty Products
I’m not shy about my love of beauty products. Before baby, I would spend 45 minutes to an hour a day just on my makeup, and while that routine has been cut way back to around 5 minutes, I’m still just as in love with makeup and beauty products as I was then. As a busy mom, my routine is simplified in the day to day, so the products I love most are useful for light makeup days as well as full makeup days. These products are my affordable holy grail beauty products.
These holy grail beauty products are not only the ones I reach for daily but the things I reach for the most when shopping for new products. Some of these have been mentioned in my 5 minute makeup routine, but this won’t be a repeat of those products.
As a note, my skin is extremely dry, so you will notice that a lot of these products are hydrating in some fashion.

If you follow me, you will know that I have a sincere love for sheet masks. These are one of the most important parts of my self care routine. During winter, when my skin is a complete desert I rely on sheet masks multiple times a week to help hydrate my skin. While I have many favorites and I love trying out all kinds of new ones, I always fall back on these Garnier Skin Active ones. They smell amazing, don’t sting or burn when they’re on, and hydrate deeply.
I love that I can easily stop at the drug store and grab these masks. I live in a small town, so the availability of products is low without driving 30 or more miles. These masks are available right where I live and work great. Therefore, I always like keeping them on hand.
Rimmel London foundations have long been a holy grail in my collection. This new formulation of the Lasting Finish 25 hour foundation is growing on me. The old formula in the red-capped bottle was by far the best foundation I had used, if you can find it in your shade you should grab it. This new formula doesn’t have the coverage, and oxidizes quite a bit, so go lighter than you need.
If you are looking for a good, light weight, medium coverage but buildable foundation I would still recommend it. It has a doe foot applicator which was surprising, and at first, I wasn’t a fan, it has grown on me. The coverage is lighter than I prefer in some areas of the face, but it does layer up quite well.
Even though I have such dry skin I still find it a necessary step to set my face with powder. The best one I have found at a great price is the Coty Airspun powder in Naturally Neutral. This powder is scented and can be strong at times, but if you don’t have a fragrance sensitivity I definitely recommend it to you.
This purchase was one of those “youtube made me buy it” things, and it didn’t disappoint. Especially for the price, this powder is so silky when it’s on.
My go to eyeshadow palette, hands down, is the Makeup Revolution Affirmation Palette. I have other palettes, but none get as much use as this one. While some shadows are a little chalky or dusty, the overall majority of them blend out beautifully with very minimal fallout.
The price of the palette in the store is so affordable, and I tend to reach for this more than I reach for my Urban Decay Naked 3 palette that has a similar color range.
This mascara is hands down my favorite one to date. I have used so many different mascaras searching for the one who gives amazing length while giving volume and not creating spider lashes. L’Oreal Lash Paradise is the ultimate lengthening and volumizing mascara.
I haven’t tried it but, I have heard a lot about this being the dupe for the Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara, so if you’ve tried that one and want a cheaper version, definitely give this one a try.
Other products I love
There are so many other products in my makeup cupboard that I really enjoy, but that I can easily buy a different brand of without thinking about it.
One of my other favorite foundations is the Wet N Wild PhotoFocus Foundation. This one has decent coverage and semi decent staying power but even when I set it with powder a simple touch will remove foundation. That gets quite annoying when you spend a lot of time on your makeup. The other downfall for me is the little spatula. It doesn’t grab much product and doesn’t spread it on the face very nicely. Wet N Wild also has some great blush and highlighters. I have used them and enjoyed them, but have also moved on to other brands.
I also really have been enjoying the Pond’s Dry Skin Creme. This is a thick moisturizer that doesn’t irritate my skin. It’s not super deeply hydrating, but it keeps everything from getting way too dry. I can get a little tiny jar of it for under $2 right in my town, so it’s great for when you’re on a budget.
