5 Products in my 5 minute makeup routine
I am a self admitted beauty product lover. I love to do my makeup, play with new products, and watch far too many beauty gurus on YouTube. As a stay at home mom, I don’t do my full blown makeup routine on a daily basis, but I still like putting on a little something each day. These are the current 5 products in my 5 minute makeup routine.
When I became a mom, one of the first things I stopped doing was wearing makeup. I went from having a 45 minute to hour long makeup routine down to nothing. My focus, rightfully, was completely on my newborn and making it through the day. Through this though, I felt like I had completely lost touch with who I was before my daughter was born and I longed to get back in touch with that part of me. I started by spending 5 minutes on myself each day, and through that, I got into a stride with my 5 minute makeup routine, and now do it in under 5 minutes a day.

I have many different moisturizers I love, but I always seem to fall back on this one from Pond’s. The Pond’s Nourishing Moisturizing Cream is one I buy over and over again. It is deeply moisturizing for my extremely dry skin, doesn’t bother my skin, and is very affordable.
With us having wood heat, my normally dry skin has become the Sahara desert. Using this moisturizer has helped so much. I also do a lot of moisturizing sheet masks and use coconut oil as I need to. The moisturizer step isn’t negotiable for me and is essential in both my fast and long makeup routines.
Eyeshadow Crease Color
After moisturizing, the first thing I do is take a large fluffy crease brush and I fluff it all over my crease. This one isn’t the exact shade I use, but I use an NYX matte shadow just a few shades deeper than my skin tone. This just adds a little dimension to my crease before moving on to the next step.
Cream Eye Shadow
For all over the lid, I use a cream shadow. My favorite is this one from ELF called Wine Not. It has just enough shimmer and pigment to be the perfect all over lid color on an easy day. This shadow is one of my absolute favorite cream shadows, with the Maybelline Tattoo Studio ones being a close second.
I use either a small brush, usually a lip brush, or my fingertip to press it into my lid. Then I take my crease brush over the edge just to blend it out a bit. This shadow will stay put until you wash it off, which is amazing.
To me, my makeup isn’t complete until I put mascara on. Right now, my favorite mascara is the L’Oreal Lash Paradise. It completely lives up to the hype. It holds a curl, stays put, lengthens and volumizes. This is pretty much everything I look for in a mascara.
A Little Glow
I take a pea-sized squeeze of this highlighter and add a little shine to my cheekbones, my forehead, nose, and chin. It’s not a blinding highlight but adds just a little bit of shine to the face.
Some days there are things I want to add or to do extra. I can easily add some eyeliner, some concealer, or even foundation. There are so many favorite products I use for these, and I will do another post for them later.
